Geo Hallam & Sons complete the sale of land at Daybrook Laundry to Aldi

Posted March 2014

After many false-starts the former Daybrook Laundry site, closed in 2002, is about to come to life again following the approval of a master plan by Gedling Borough Council.

Aldi have now secured Planning Permission for a neighbourhood food store on 1.25 acres which will provide a food store, having a gross area of 15,900 sq ft, a sales area of 10,650 sq ft and 78 car spaces.

Aldi, as part of the site purchase, will construct a new access road for the food store which will also service the remaining 2.3 acres of land which will be marketed by Geo Hallam & Sons for a variety of uses.

The enabling works are due to start on site in March, complete in June / July which will enable Aldi to commence construction of the food store which is due to open in November 2014.

Roger Davis of Geo Hallam & Sons will now be actively marketing the remainder of the land and the land owners are open as to whether this is achieved by land sales or building out the development, which offers one of the few opportunities in Arnold for new build opportunities.

Roger Davis of Geo Hallam & Sons, together with Caroline Green of Browne Jacobson, acted on behalf of the land owners in liaising on the sale, construction and planning documentation and the responsibilities in relation to the enabling works.

Aldi were represented by Richard Rae of Rae & Partners, Stoke on Trent, and Scott Bryden of the Dalkin Scotton Partnership, Birmingham.
